My new career!

I got a job offer to teach first and second graders at Sequoia School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Mesa, Az. I am so excited but nervous at same time. I have worked with deaf children before in dormitory setting for many years. Now it will be my new career as full time teacher! I will start working next week but the class will start on August 8th. I will try to keep up with blogging to share my experience with everyone.

I have lost about 40 pounds on HCG drops and I am very happy with it as I am now wearing pants size 8 to 6 and before was 16. I have 20 more pounds to meet my goal weight. I have been working on applying for teaching positions. I have applied one at Hawaii School for the Deaf and Blind and will expecting to be interviewing in May so I am crossing my fingers for it. As for my crafts, I have been working with my students at New Mexico School for the Deaf as after school art instructor for a month and they enjoyed painting rocks, dye the eggs, making basket and paper crafts. I did a bit of crocheting and started my crewel stitching.

I finally graduated with Master in Deaf Education last December and now I have a lot of free time to do any projects that I missed doing for long time. Right now I am crocheting hats and stuffed animals now. I will post pictures later on.

My HCG journal

I started my HCG drops 21 days ago and to date I lost 14.4 pounds. First week was hard for me because I had to stop drinking Diet Pepsi and was having headaches due to sudden withdrawal from Diet Pepsi. I am learning to eat better and healthy. There is many cool recipes for Phase two HCG diet.

I have been student teaching since January. It was very educational experience for me.It was special need deaf student in high school level but thier mentally is more of elementary. I will be taking two course this summer and then in the fall last two course then I will be graduating with master in deaf education.

I am back to work today after two weeks of break. It was really good break that I had for long time. I was just relaxing and do some of the craft projects that I have been neglecting for years. As I have wrote in my last post that I made some of Christmas gifts and now I am working on my daughter's blanket with knit loom. I have been playing with my hair during the break and now I have made a resolution that i will keep up with my hair do from now on. Continuous Positive airway pressure (CPAP) is a method of respiratory ventilation used primarily in the treatment of sleep apnea. I have been using CPAP since last November and I do notice a big improvement in myself. I don't feel tired during the daytime anymore and have no need to nap anymore. I used to sleep a lot and always needed to nap and now I felt that the weight and foggness has lifted from me. I can sleep between 7 to 9 hours and don't feel tired anymore. If I sleep under 6 hours but i do feel just little tired but not bad I used to felt before the CPAP. I noticed that I do have more energy than before. I am still waiting for a word from my work to see if I could start student teaching there in the mornings while I work in the late afternoon. I will be able to graduate with master in deaf education in August if things goes well for me. My husband Edward and I did went shopping for bedroom bedding set for our bedroom and we found one set that is really nice and we also bought drapes too but have to order more as they were out of stock. It will be my first time in many years since I was married to my ex that I got new matching bedroom bedding set and that everything matches. We bought new sofa set two years ago and now my husband wants other new sofa set because he didnt like the cushions that get too soft and wants the firm ones. We did looked around and did saw that we liked but I told him that I want to wait longer because our sofa is still good. I am not used to have everything new and that matches. It was funny that my living room looked so bare after I took down the Christmast decorations. I guess I need to shop for some decoration that are good for a year around or look for some projects that I could made. Anyone who have a cool ideas about decorating please feel free to comment. I liked the chic shabby but my husband dont like too much flowers. He likes Southwest style but I am not too crazy about it. I thought of mixture of both. Does anyone have ideas for that?

Wow I got my first comment on this blog but no follower yet. I guess it is a good start. I have been vping( for those hearing people vp is video phone that deaf people use to call their deaf friends or relatives) with my daughters and son from Missouri a lot. My oldest daughter Trudie has been in er twice due to her vomiting and pain in her stomach and they are still finding out why she is still sick after her first visit to er and the medication is not working. So far with my craft project I have made two more jewerly since last time I blogged and now working on the blanket project that I started three years ago for Trudie. I used Circle Knit loom. I have already done two panels and now on third panel. Today I was brushing Mai Tai and a lot of fur was flying everywhere and a lot of them were sticking to everywhere too. I had to vacumm them up but she is not too happy about sitting there too long and she has been trying to escape me and I decided to give her a break and now she is happy running around in the back yard. I will have to brush her again maybe tomorrow. I think she is losing her baby fur now. She is now a year and two month old. She still remind me a lot of Sally my first Bearded Collie in her behavior and action. I guess that is what everyone calls the Beardie traits and the bouncing type. The picture of her on our bed is what she was three months old. The next picture was taken two months ago with her first grooming from the Petco as age of one year old.

It was pretty busy weekend for me. I was off for winter break started last Friday. I made four different kinds of cookies. I finished four jewerly, two knitted socks and one scarf. Now I have to mail some of gifts to my family tomorrow. It is getting cold here, I think I prefer spring time as I am getting older and my bones are telling me that they are not suited for cold weather anymore. This Christmas will be my first Christmas without my kids as my daughters are in New York and couldn't afford to travel this year but they are going to Missouri to see my son and his daughters for weekend. I do felt sad about it but I felt I am very lucky to have Edward as he has been wonderful to me.Today my son from Missouri called me on the VP and I was happy to see my grandgirls Branetta and Beverly. They have grown a lot since they went back to thier parents after fostering them for one and half year a year ago. Edward did tried to see if he could find a cheaper flight for me to go visit this month but no lucky due to high flight cost for last minute. I will be fine with my husband for now. I had my hair colored and cut this morning and my husband really like it. It is now medium golden brown. It is new color for me and I like it. I have always wanted to be more of drama with my hair but never had any courage to do that. It is just that I am always aware of what will other people think when they look at me. I have changed my type of style of dressing. I used to just have tee shirt and jeans or jogging pants. Since i got married and I have noticed that I started to dress more nicely and better than before. I believe I am more happier and want to look good for my husband as he is always nicely dressed compared to my ex husband. I took my time to ponder on my life with Edward now. I do felt that I am more relaxed and get more confience in myself now. I often wonder why I had to put up with ex and thought it was all my fault. It will take more time to get more confience in myself fully as there is some moment that I was not too sure about myself.

My first Jewelry that I made for my mother in law for Christmas gift. It was so easy to make and I also made earrings, bracelet that night. I never thought it was that easy. I hope that she will like it. She loves necklaces.

I will post more pictures of bracelet and earrings later. It really relaxed me and i didnt realize that the time went by fast. I am looking foward to make more and learn about beading, jewerly crafts.

It has been awhile since I posted my blog. I have been looking at other blogs and trying to improve my blog and joined thier blogs to keep updated myself. I am still learning and I really want to make my blog very interesting to everyone. I am still working my master in Deaf Education. Today I went to The Days Of Dead Expo and see many interesting crafts and art work. I see that they have really creative minds to do with the theme of Days of Dead. I wish I could be more creative person like them but something is really blocking my mind and I am always have some kind of hestation to get started. Oh well. It seems that no one has given me any feedbacks on my blog yet.

My First Bearded Collie Sally

This is my first Bearded Collie Sally. I adopted her when she was two years old in 1988. She went home to Doggy Heaven in 2005. We had a lot of good memories with her. There was one time that we thought we lost her to Lyme disease in 1998 and lucky the vet saved her but she had to stay in hospital for a week. It took her few months to get her health back and be back to normal. After she came home from hospital she could not even walk well or run, it was like she was starting over like learning to stand and walk then run but she didn't run very fast like she used to as she used to be able to run with deer and try to bite their tail but the deer zoom off before she could try again and also ran after rabbits or raccoons but never hurt them, it was like she was enjoying the racing game with them. She loves jumping in pond and rivers. She always play with our kids and balls. I will always miss her and have her in my heart.

My Mini Pineapple

Last year on Mother Day I was looking for a plant to give to my mother in law Bea for her mother day gift. I really love her because she treated me like her own daughter and also treated my two daughters as her own grandchildren. I saw a small pineapple plant with a tiny pineapple on the stem. I bought it for her because I wanted to get her something unique. She loves it and still have it but the pineapple rotted and she didnt have chance to eat it. I wanted one for myself and I went back to that store but they were all out of them. Last May I found it again and bought it for myself. The pineapple was like size of tennis ball with all green. I left it on front porch where they recieve full day of sun and watered them everyday as the climate here in Rio Rancho is dry and hot during the summer with some rain once in while. It grew and grew. I just watched it and keep my eyes on it because I was afraid the birds would try to steal it or damage it. Finally last weekend I noticed they are starting to turn yellow. I could smell the pineapple where i was standing so I decide to cut it off as I noticed the stem that hold the fruit is starting to dry out. I put it on my counter top to ripe it more. it will be ready to be cut up this coming weekend. I still could smell it everytime I pass it by.

Hello Everyone,
I am getting started on my blog. Let me share my bit of bio with you all. I was born profound deaf and grew up in oral English with help of my hearing aids. Now I am not wearing any hearing aids at all and very fluent in American Sign Language. Why? because I have four deaf children and I noticed that they are more knowledge of what is going on our home mother earth than me when I was small because they were able to pick up the language faster with visual cue of American Sign Language. Now all of my children are grown up and three of them are in college and one is married with two lovely girls. I work with high school girls at New Mexico School for the Deaf. I am working on my master degree in Deaf Education now. I have three dogs and one cat. I will tell you more about my pets next time. I love to do any crafts and sewing. I always want to try out new things to make but I have problem with my ADD that make me do things and then leave them unfinished. I have boxes of unfinished projects piling in the garage that drive my husband nuts.I do have problem trying to stay on one things longer period of time. I also have problem with my creativity mind as I tend to have to many things jumping on my mind when I want to created something beautiful but can't sort it out to focus on one thing. Someone told me that writing a blog is good way to help me think more clearly. I just started my medication for my ADD and I do noticed it did help me a bit but wait and see if it will get better.Hmm, I think I will try to see I do stay with this blogging thing to keep going for years years.On this picture above is me with my baby daughter at the school play last year.
